SEEKING SUPPORT?
The Alliance has compiled a number of resources available for survivors, their friends and families, and professionals assisting survivors in New York City.

Policy Priority: Legislative-A.3378/S.4077 (HRA Sexual Violence Information)

This law, sponsored by Assembly Member Linda Rosenthal and State Senator Daniel Squadron, recognizes the correlation between sexual assault, rape and poverty as well as the need to inform victims of the range of short and long-term services available to them.
The law “…directs social services districts to inform applicants and recipients of public assistance of their option to receive an information packet appropriate for victims of sexual assault; such information shall include referrals and contact information for all local programs and services including sexual assault examiner programs, rape crisis centers and other advocacy, counseling and hotline services appropriate for such victims.”

We know that victims of sexual assault who access counseling and services are more likely to more forward in their lives and obtain the necessary tools to become self-sufficient. To that end, the Alliance and other stakeholders have contacted Commisioner Doar of the NYC Human Resources Administration in order to assist with the implementation of this important law.
