New Title IX and Moving Forward
The New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault
The New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault
Today, August 14th, 2020, the rule governing sexual violence response for schools and higher education institutions under Title IX goes into effect. Over the last 3 years, we have witnessed first-hand the unwavering advocacy of students and survivor advocates in the fight against the harmful provisions in this new rule every step of the way. Although the rule goes into effect today, our collective efforts and perseverance were not in vain. Survivors are listening, participating, and watching us. If we have learned anything from participating and watching folx on the frontlines of this fight, it is that despite the barriers in our way, we will never stop supporting survivors and fighting for all students’ rights to receive an education free from sex discrimination. At the New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault, we promise to continue to work until this the reality for every NYC student.
This is a painful day for many of us. Just know that you are not alone.
